...you wash your mouth out with soap young lady!

hands up if you want whiter teeth!
Id love to have whiter teeth but i refuse to pay £200 a session to get them done! So being a lover of DIY beauty i had a nosy around to see what homemade alternatives there are!
Now don't get me wrong, your not going to get amazing results straight away but stick at it and you'll notice a difference!
Theres a lot of at home options (many scarily using peroxide!!!) an i stumbled across a few techniques but , as always, i tried them out myself first. There are many options but this one was the weirdest, so of course i had to check it out...
SOAP!!
Using soap in the place of toothpaste twice a day is a brilliant whitening alternative according to many fans across the world! The science is that toothpaste contains glycerin and this coats your teeth, stopping enamel growing back and essentially 'sealing' stains in. Soap on the other hand does not contain glycerin, there for allows your teeth to 'breath' and it removes the stains!
The down side is the taste, (warning: If u were ever a naughty little ragamuffin and your mommy washed your mouth out with soap and water, it might be like having flashbacks), but if found of u keep your tongue out the way and use mouthwash after the problem is gone!
I noticed the difference from the first wash and my teeth feel squeaky clean! The soap is gentle enough so u can use it everyday too! Id recommend using Dove, but any soap without glycerin will do =)
You simply rub your wet toothbrush head onto the bar soap (NEVER USE LIQUID SOAP!) and brush in circular motions over your teeth and gums and what do u know! Shiny, white lovely teeth.
I am also currently trying out using bicarbonate of soda for a week to see if that helps! Ill keep you updated and next you know in a future post!!

olive oil?!?!?!

So iv heard from a reliable source that olive oil is amazing for your hair/skin/nails and pretty much everything else u have a problem with on your body!
As a recovering spotty i'm very dubious about slathering olive oil on my fave but i'm going to give it a go! hopefully nothing too bad will happen *gulps*
I thought id start with something thats not gonna be too potentially disastrous and use it in my hair
Iv been to Soho road in Birmingham today ( if you want to get beautified and not spend loads then go here! eyebrow threading starting at £2!!! thats 4 times less than in town center threading bars! and i get my nails done for £20...but thats for a later post) and picked up some olive oil from one of the Caribbean beauty shops. At 99p for a little bottle you cant say no!
I got home and promptly Googled 'olive oil for hair' and 'olive oil for skin' and the stuff i read was pretty surprising! Olive oil applied as a hair mask is meant to repair split ends and give u healthy hair! Got to give this ago!
Also, people who had previously suffered from acne and bad skin have all preached about the miracle that is olive oil! its meant to clean your skin up, get rid of all your black heads and stop you getting spots again!
So because of this snooping i am currently sat in my kitchen with olive oil on my head, with a bonce covered in cling film!
I warmed a glug of oil (depending on the thickness/ length of your hair) in the microwave for 30 seconds and then promptly applied it all over my hair (keep it away from roots of your hairs naturally greasy) and then wrapped my head in cling film.
The heat from your head gets trapped and warms up your hair which opens the follicals and gets the treatment deeper into the hair shaft.
Your meant to leave it for a minimum of an hour and i left mine on for four hours and my hair feels amazing! smooth and soft but not flat!
(1 week later)
Its been a weeks since i used the oil and my hair is alot less dry, so much so i dont have to straighten it any more! Im definatly gonna try this again!

Miss Mousey

http://www.youtube.com/user/thepaleprincess?feature=mhum
I have yet to meet a girl without black heads (and if i do i'm pretty sure she'll be an alien), its a problem that never seems to go, even after using all the useless products on the TV!
I highly doubt the dirt gets lifted off magically like in the adverts :-/
So iv got a couple of tips that really work!
Tip 1#
(watch the video for my pink face)
1x cotton wool/ wool pads
1x splash of lemon juice
1x sprinkle of sugar
splash your face with warm water to open your pours
put the juice on the pad and sprinkle the sugar on
rub it on your cleansed face in circular motions, focusing on especially dry bits or your nose
the sugar is a natural exfoliant and gets into your pours and slogs off your top layers of skin
the lemon juice is a naturally antibacterial and kills bacteria that causes spots
splash warm water on your face to wash any residue off, then splash cold water to close your pours up again
because the ingredients are natural with no additives and you can make it as strong or weak as you like you can use it ever day!!

Tip 2#
put a blob of aqueous cream on a cotton pad and use it as a cleanser!
rub it all over your face and focus on problem areas, then pull faces as u look at the pad n see the nasties
wash off with warm water, splash your face with cold water and rub a little more on top to keep your skin moisturized

If u have bad skin, the best thing you can do is keep it moisturized! Your skin will over compensate for any dryness and produce too much oil! if u keep up with a water based moisturizer u'll notice a difference
trust me. i was a bonafide spotty.

hope this'll help!

honey face...

so, i am currently sat at my desk...with honey smeared on my face
appppaaarently its meant to give u beautiful skin and i know theres lots of 'honey and...' product on the market so i thought id give it a go! I hate it when you read recipes for masks and stuff and it goes 'ohh yeah, all stuff u have at home' if your a student, you don't usually have a fully stocked spice rack and bicarbonate of soda lying around! But all the things i recommended are very cheap, so i might have to buy stuff, but it'll cost less than £4 =)
I splashed warm water into my face, opening my pours up, then i smear liquid honey all over my chops and leave it for half an hour (unless your like me and get distracted by you tube too easily)
right gonna go wash it off....
.... ohhhh my skin feels really nice! usually when i wash my face my skin immediately gets really tight n dry and it feels all soft and moisturized!
the only problem is i keep finding sticky patches i missed =p
on the plus side though when i 'accidently' get some in my mouth its laaaaavely =)

first post!!

hey!
So ill tell you a little about myself, i'm a student, i live in England and i'm certified cheapskate!
I'm not making home made face masks and shampoos because i'm trying to save the environment or be a veggie (though saving the environment is a very good thing =p), its because we all work hard for our money, so why spend it on all on beauty treatments that might not work!
I embrace my pale skin, i deal with my thin hair and my difficult skin =)
If your like me then keep reading!!
